Join us for a conversation between two of the most celebrated short story writers in Ireland today. In Barcelona, Mary Costello, offers glimpses of characters as they approach moments of desperation – or revelation – that change and reshape fate. Author Biographies
Thomas Morris is from Caerphilly, South Wales. His debut story collection, We Don’t Know What We’re Doing (Faber & Faber) won the Wales Book of the Year, the Rhys Davies Trust Fiction Prize, and a Somerset Maugham Award. In 2023, he was named one of Granta’s Best Young British Novelists. Open Up, his second book of stories, was published by Faber & Faber this August. He lives in Dublin, where he is Editor at Large at The Stinging Fly.
Mary Costello is the author of two novels, Academy Street (2014) and The River Capture (2019), and a collection of short stories, The China Factory (2012). Her new collection of stories, Barcelona, is forthcoming in March 2024.
