The success and longevity of 126 Artist-run Gallery in Galway is of course an occasion to celebrate for all
and speaks well of all of its supporters/contributors over the years, and also the city, and county. The new
publication Artist-run Democracy: Sustaining a Model marks 15+ years of this Celtic Model of artist-led
management and its importance on an international scale.

Published by Onomatopee in Eindhoven, NL, and edited by artist and former 126 director Jim Ricks, the
opportunity was taken at the gallery’s 15th anniversary to preserve the enormous amount of activity it has
undertaken and to commemorate the project, everyone who directed and has shown there.
It is an archival publication that focuses on the volunteer directors, the educational value of the project, its
challenges, and its relevance internationally as a progressive artist-run model. Additionally, a diverse
selection of 10 former board members from over the years have made written contributions.

A round table discussion with these directors and the current board will take place on April 8, starting at
11am at 126 Artist-run Gallery, followed by the publications official launch that afternoon.
