Join Méabh McDonnell, beloved storyteller and author of Any Way You Slice It, for Cúirt’s Sunday Breakfast Club for ages 10+. Méabh and Cúirt have teamed up to serve you stories and pastries on a Sunday morning.

Méabh’s second YA novel follows a young baker, Carrie Quinn, for whom baking isn’t just a hobby — it’s her whole future. She’s determined to prove herself and win the Castlecreagh baking competition, but when she and her sworn enemy, Dara Harte, are disqualified from the competition, it seems like her future is over. That is unless the two of them can find a way to bake together…

Méabh McDonnell was born in Dublin and grew up in Loughrea, Co. Galway. She has worked with the Clare People newspaper as sub-editor and children’s books reviewer and founded cindersmagazine.com. She has an MA in journalism and is the Children’s Book Manager in Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop, Galway. Her debut children’s book, Into the Witchwood, was a winner at the Great Reads Award 2024 (School Library Group of the Literacy Association of Ireland), her second novel Any Way You Slice It was shortlisted for the Irish Book Awards 2025. She lives in the Galway countryside next door to a castle.
