Dave Rudden, Maria Karapish & Mot Collins, Mary Watson, Red Bird Youth Collective & Cúirt Young New Writer of the Year

Cúirt Labs for 12 – 17 year olds

A full day of workshops, readings, talks and a film screening for 12-17 year olds, ideal for young people with a passion for literature or art.

The day will begin with a reading and workshop from Mary Watson, writer of The Wren Hunt, described by the Guardian as “a magical YA debut….two factions battle for survival in this complex and slippery tale of ancient spells cast in contemporary Ireland”.

Dave Rudden, author of the award-winning Knights of the Borrowed Dark trilogy as well as the Doctor Who anthology Twelve Angels Weeping, will follow with a speculative fiction workshop based on Twelve Angels Weeping.

After lunch Red Bird Youth Collective will be screening their film Let Go and holding a discussion based on the themes of inclusion and bullying that arise in the film. This will be followed by a reading from the Cúirt Young New Writer of the Year.

Finally, join local illustrators and zinestresses Mot Collins and Maria Karapish for a workshop focusing on the history, culture and creation of the zine.
