Jenny Browne and Joey Fauerso: In Other Words, Pictures

Book NowJoin poet Jenny Browne and artist Joey Fauerso in this playful generative workshop exploring the relationship between language and image. Browne, a poet who also works in collage, erasure, and watercolor, and Fauerso, an interdisciplinary artist who uses poetry as both inspiration and source material in her paintings, animation and video work will discuss and provide a range of craft exercises and strategies to help participants create new work through textual and visual engagement and experiment.
Jenny is the author of five collections of poetry including the forthcoming I Am Trying to Love the Whole World (BOA Editions 2026). A Professor of English and Creative Writing at Trinity University, Texas and Honorary Professor at Queen’s University, Belfast, she served concurrent terms as the Poet Laureate of San Antonio and the Poet Laureate of the State of Texas, and has been awarded two US/UK Distinguished Fulbright Fellowships to the Seamus Heaney Centre. In 2023, she was inducted into the Texas Institute of Letters.
Joey is an artist and 2022 Guggenheim Fellow in the Fine Arts. Her work consists mostly of painting, video, installation and performance addressing issues of family, humor, gender, representation and figuration.
Recently her work has been exhibited at Ruby City, The Blanton Museum of Art, Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, MASS MoCA, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Drawing Center in New York, and New Mexico State University Art Museum. Fauerso has been the recipient of multiple grants and residencies, including a 2022 Guggenheim Fellowship, a 2020 Joan Mitchell Grant for Painters and Sculptors, a 2021 Sustainable Arts Foundation grant, the Open Sessions residency at The Drawing Center in New York, the Golden Foundation Grant, Dallas Museum of Art Kimberough Grant, the RAIR artist in residence grant, Yaddo, MacDowell, and Kunstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin.
Fauerso is a Professor in the School of Art and Design at Texas State University, and lives with her family in San Antonio, Texas.
