Caoilinn Hughes joins Nicole Flattery for a special live edition of The Stinging Fly podcast, to discuss her new novel The Alternatives. The story of four brilliant Irish sisters, orphaned in childhood, who scramble to reconnect when the oldest disappears into the Irish countryside. Warm, fiercely witty, and unexpectedly hopeful, this novel is an unforgettable portrait of a family perched on our collective precipice

The Stinging Fly has been publishing new writers and new writing for the past twenty five years and takes a particular interest in promoting the short story. For this podcast writers are asked to root around in The Stinging Fly archive and pick out a story to read, discuss, and use as a launchpad to discuss their own work and practice.
