Dinnseanchas – seo tionscadal ar cuireadh tús leis dornán blianta ó shin le nasc a chruthú idir scríbhneoirí Gaeilge Gaeltachta as Éirinn agus scríbhneoirí Māori na Nua-Shéalainne chun iniúchadh a dhéanamh ar an dinnseanchas: miotais, an tírdhreach, an béaloideas agus an stair choilíneach atá coitianta ina gcultúr éagsúil agus mar a thagann na gnéithe sin chun cinn ina saothar cruthaitheach scríbhneoireachta. Cuirfidh beirt scríbhneoirí ó Ghaeltacht na Rinne, Áine Uí Fhoghlú agus Ógie Ó Céilleachair, a saothar nuachumtha iláthair.
Dinnseanchas is a project inspired by the lore of places, bringing together writers from Ireland and New Zealand to delve into powerful connections between our cultures, landscapes, mythologies and colonial histories. Began in 2021, this project has so far commissioned six writers to share their practice and develop new work.
This is the second phase of the project, and will feature work created by Áine Uí Fhoghlú and Ógie Ó Céilleachair.
In partnership with Ealaín na Gaeltachta, Cló Iar-chonnacht and WORD Christchurch.

Is ón Rinn ó dhúchas Ógie Ó Céilleachair, tá Céim Baitsiléir Ealaíon aige ó Choláiste na hOllscoile, Corcaigh agus Ard-dioplóma san Oideachas ó Ollscoil na hÉireann, Gaillimh. Anuas air sin, bhain sé amach Céim Máistreachta sa chéad ghrád i bhFoghlaim Teangacha ó Acadamh na hOllscolaíochta Gaeilge, Ollscoil na hÉireann, Gaillimh. Múinteoir staire, Gaeilge, An Pholaitíocht & an tSochaí agus drámaíochta is ea é i nGaelcholáiste Luimnigh, áit a scríobhann agus a léiríonn sé dráma as Gaeilge le micléinn na hIdirbhliana gach bliain. Dhá úrscéal do dhéagóirí foilsithe aige – Cúpla (2011 Cló Iar-Chonnacht) agus Katfish agus Scéalta Eile (2017 Cló Iar-Chonnacht). Tá úrscéal don léitheoir fásta foilsithe aige leis -Árasán (Cló Iar-Chonnacht 2022) agus téacsleabhar staire don Teastas Sóisearach foilsithe sa bhliain 2010. Glacann sé páirt in Oireachtas na Gaeilge go rialta sna comórtais amhránaíochta agus lúibíní. Tá sé ina bhall de Chór Fear na nDéise chomh maith.
Ógie Ó Céilleachair is originally from the An Rinn Gaeltacht, has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from University College, Cork and a Higher Diploma in Education from the National University of Ireland, Galway. In addition, he obtained a Master’s Degree in first grade in Language Learning from Acadamh na hOllscolaíochta Gaeilge, National University of Ireland, Galway. He is a teacher of history, Irish, politics & society and drama in Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh, where he writes and performs a play in with Transition Years every year. He has published two novels for teenagers – Cúpla (2011 Cló Iar-Connacht) and Katfish & Scéalta Eile (2017 Cló Iar-Connacht). He has also published a novel for older readers –Árasán (Cló Iar-Connacht 2022) and a history textbook for the Junior Certificate published in 2010. He regularly participates in Oireachtas na Gaeilge in the singing and lúibíní competitions. He is also a member of Cór Fear na nDéise.
Áine Uí Fhoghlú comes from the County Waterford Gaeltacht of An Rinn. She has published four collections of poetry, her most recent being Mná dár mhair (2022). She has also published teenage and adult fiction as well as a bilingual memoir from the older generation in the Waterford Gaeltacht, Scéalta agus Seanchas – Potatoes, Children & Seaweed (2019). She has been awarded numerous commissions, as well as bursaries from The Arts Council, Ealaíon na Gaeltachta, Foras na Gaeilge, The Patrick Kavanagh Fellowship. Prizes won for her writing include the Michael Hartnett Poetry Award, Oireachtas na Gaeilge Literary awards, Strokestown Duais na Gaeilge award, Listowel Writers’ Week Duais na Gaeilge. A member of the Writers in Schools panel, she frequently does workshops in schools. Áine was named Poet Laureate for Dungarvan during the Poetry Town 2021 initiative.
