Book NowIrish literary magazines play a crucial role for new writers. They promote and nurture talent, and are a vital catalyst and connection for the rich diversity of Ireland’s literary scene. Founded by University of Galway alumni, Ragaire champions writing from Galway, Ireland and beyond.
Join editors Aileen McCarthy, Lucy Bleeker and Cormac Culkeen for a showcase event of the magazine’s most recent work from PJ Delaney, Saoirse Cross Smith, David Kenny and Kathryn Petruccelli.
PJ is a writer who lives in Offaly. He is shaped by the nearby Slieve Bloom Mountains. He has completed the MA in Creative Writing in the University of Limerick and is officially retired from everything but writing. He was a Ragaire nominee for the Pushcart Prize in 2025.
Saoirse is a writer from Dublin, which is where she currently resides. She is a recent graduate of the University of Galway MA in Writing, where she spent a year working on poetry, fiction and non-fiction. Her work was published in issue 4
of Ragaire Literary Magazine, and she also took part in the 2025 Stinging Fly
Summer School for poetry.
David lives in Wicklow. He holds certificates in Creative Fiction and Poetry from Carlow College. His work features in Underbelly Press, Swerve, Crannog and Ragaire and has a nomination for the Pushcart Prize. He is working on a novel.
Kathryn is a Pushcart, Best of the Net, and Best Small Fictions nominated writer who holds an obsession with the ocean and an MA in teaching English language learners. She teaches pay-what you-can workshops, and produces and hosts the Melody or Witchcraft podcast, where guests discuss an Emily Dickinson poem and one of their own, along with the relevance of past writing to
today’s issues.
